                                                  HTR Dark Miles

We've been doing this long enough to know that the best stories don't live in the highlight reel.

They live in the dark miles.

You know the ones. The stretch somewhere between midnight and dawn when the headlamp starts to feel like the only real thing in the world. When your legs have stopped being your legs and your mind has started negotiating with itself. When quitting would be completely understandable and you're not sure anymore why you started and the person who signed up for this feels like a stranger.

Most people who've been there don't talk about it. Not really. They talk around it: the splits, the conditions, the gear that failed or didn't. They give you the outside of the story.

Hiker Trash Radio is launching DARK MILES, a new series of narrative documentary episodes built to get at the inside.

These won't be standard interviews. They'll be produced in the tradition of longform narrative audio, a throughline story, narrated segments, the kind of thing you don't put on in the background. The kind of thing you sit with.

We're looking for guests with the right kind of story. Thru-hikers. Ultra runners. Big wall climbers. Anyone who's been in the dark miles (not just physically, but in the way that tests who you actually are) and came out the other side changed.

If that's you, we'd like to talk. Use the guest form at hikertrashradio.com. Tell us about the miles. We'll take it from there.

Most content enjoyable, although FKTs, Barley Marathon, elite performers seem over-represented.
